The Rocks start out as tubes I smash out of the stone, The face shown can change completely in as little as a 1/8 inch of tube. So you never know what's it going to look like until its done. If I get two good matches I try to make earrings out of them. I mostly let the stone deside the shape. If the stone face is good I spend alot of time polishing it, And wrap it with Sterling silver wire. These I ask alot of money for. The ones that are not as nice, I wrap with cheap wire and do not spend the time polishing. I have most of the colors they have on the planet, Plus a red and white color [that is rare] I call fire chiastolite that I found in a different kind of stone.
I grind a groove in the side of the stone so the wire sits in it makes a nice strong hold on the stone, Or I try to drill it. I do not use glue because the stone is colder than the air and it doesn't stay on.
Most of the Rocks have quarts X's in the face of the stone, sometimes you find the good cross
but they are rare. Some stones I make into necklaces. They are 18" long made from 1mm leather cord with primitive clasp.
